Italy – Paola Salzano, journalist, editor and video producer from Rome, firmly believes that fashion can tell a story. The clothes from her label, BYD (Build Your Dress), tell many stories, including her own. For BYD, aesthetics, high quality and ethics all go hand-in-hand.
From the very beginning, the idea behind BYD was to take parents' clothing as an inspiration for unique yet practical children's clothing. The company now also produces fashion for adults, especially for mothers.
The BYD collections are made from natural materials such as wool, cotton and linen and radiate a timeless, graceful elegance. They can be worn with many different outfits and in any season. For instance, a hand-embroidered cotton dress can be turned into a winter outfit in no time by adding a cardigan and warm leggings. When worn with trainers or ballerinas, it's a casual but gorgeous summer dress.
Clothing from BYD is primarily produced by family-owned companies in Italy. The materials come from selected Italian suppliers, including Filmar, Ermenegildo Zegna, Biella Yarn, Pontoglio, Solbiati or Fordiani Jersey. Certifications like GOTS, OEKOTEX STANDARD 100, DETOX BY GREENPEACE or RWS RESPONSIBLE WOOL STANDARD are a testament to the high standards BYD places on sustainability.
Aside from two boutiques in Rome, BYD clothing is only available in our shop.
